Female bloggers are often intimidated by anonymous posts and e-mail. These threats can be violent and sexual. Because of the threats, many women have stopped blogging. And fewer are posting comments in forums.

i was aware of that. but i dont think it happens just to women. people harass and threaten people online all the time. i think the feeling of anonymity people have online makes people feel safe regardless if they are just posting things or harassing people. i know i have been nasty with people one time too many, and felt the sting of people being nasty to me two or three dozen times too many. and it has driven me away more then once. i always kind of come back around eventually. but find myself trying to get more and more vague about myself.
