How do I get my dude to notice me again?

Me and my best friend have been dating for two years and some change. Lately I find that he is more interested in whats online in the blogs sites that he is apart of than he is with me. It seems like I have been giving him attitude which is usually a no no from me and that I have been getting mad at him a lot lately. Mainly because of the blogging thing. Now he was blogging before I came into the picture but I don’t remember it ever being this bad. Like the people he meets and talks to online, what do they have that I don’t? Someone give me some advice on how I can get my man to notice me again and not come off snappy. Even though I feel like giving him tude!

I am the queen of this, a well practised art over the last few years, however, before I give advice, a little warning: If he is more interested in playing on computer than he is of you, yes, you may get him to notice you again, but it will be temporary and will possibly be a cycle, you losing his interest to the puter and having to fight for it back. Is he really worth it? Two and a bit years is nothing of an investment compared with the rest of your life.

1) Find yourself something you LOVE doing outside the home, a hobby, a class, some voluntary work. Anything that you can do that really excites you and makes you feel great about yourself. The rule is it can’t cost a lot and it can’t be addictive like shopping or binge drinking.

2) Invite your girlfriends around once a month for a pamper day, homemade face packs, do each other’s nails, hair,make up, watch girlie weepy movies in the afternoon then all go for a night out together

3) Add some romance back into your relationship, be spontaneous, it is the thoughts that count,not how much money you spend. Don’t forget the small stuff either, like leaving notes in lunch boxes explaining in vivid details what you have planned for him when he gets home. Surprise him, break your routines, like meeting him from work at lunchtime and taking a winter picnic, kidnapping him and going to the pictures in the middle of afternoon or booking into a seedy hotel in your hometown, on a week night.

4) Do a ‘life check’ write a list of all the amazing things you have in your life together, all the great things you do love about him, what he does for you, his endearing characteristics, his qualities.

5) Buy a massive photo album and put your photos in it. Chose some really happy ones of the two of you and put them in frames in your bedroom.

A bit drastic but:

6) Put on a frilly apron, sit down with him at the computer and watch him, what he blogs/discusses. You can say that you are going to be his maid and will stay with him all day/night/weekend and bring him any food or drinks he wants. He will very quickly get turned on and very interested in what else you might do or will even more quickly get annoyed with you if he doesn’t want you to see what he is doing.

Either way you will find out why he is more interested in what’s online. Just make sure you want to know the answer before you try suggestion number 6

If you have the gift of writing, whatever it may be about, poems, stories, lyrics, recipes, game or product reviews, a personal diary, etc, then you should have no problems starting a blog right now and continue posting to your blog with relative frequency. If you don’t have the gift of writing, well, i would recommend you start a blog anyway and try it out for a month or two. Maybe with time you’ll learn to enjoy blogging, like millions of others. A blog is extremely easy to start, it’s completely free and you can be blogging in less than 5m.

What will you blog about?

Whatever you like, everything you like. The more the better, feel free to just pour your heart and soul into it, talk about movies you watched or music you listen to, sites you visit or discovered, what you work on, your love life, your hobbies, hopes and dreams. There are tons of things you can blog about, just ask yourself what you enjoy and write about that.

If you’re specialized in a subject, that’s great, you should start a blog just about that subject, and just keep another blog for everything else. You should always make sure that as soon as you feel you’ll be writing a lot about a specific subject, then create a new blog just for it. Are you a designer? Then make a blog just for your designs. A photographer? Make a blog with your photos. Really like computer games? Make a blog about a specific game or do your own game reviews on your blog. You get the point, you should expand every time you think you’ll get enough material to get a new blog going. This will ensure you get better targeted traffic for the subject specific blogs and increase your number of websites. Several websites and blogs are usually a better choice that just one or a few, but it’s better to have few good ones than a lot of bad ones.

Now the reason I think blogging should be the first step even for a newbie is because it’s just so easy, a blog puts you on the map practically instantly, you start to get the hang of managing a site, and in 3 or 4 months doing about 4 posts per week you will already be getting some traffic. The general rule is that regular posting increases traffic so try to keep your blog frequently updated. Don’t have anything to say? Just look at the news and comment about something on your blog, or post a funny YouTube video, a funny pic, just maintain activity. As for your specialized blogs, those should always be kept on topic so if you can’t find anything to post on those blogs, it’s better to not post at all and just wait for worthy content.

Starting one or several blogs early on your online venture will only help you in the long run. Frequently updated blogs can eventually rank highly on the search engines for hundreds of keywords and even if you don’t end up building your online business model around blogging those blogs will help you get much needed traffic and links.

Now don’t think about the money just yet, blogging won’t make you rich instantly although it eventually can. A lot of people make a living blogging. Can you? That’s hard to say, if you’re just starting out then don’t even think about that, just start blogging for a few months, get used to it, make constant posts, be original and controversial, and keep an eye on your visitor count. Only once you have a blog with constant traffic will it be time to start thinking about monetizing that traffic.

What is art? Art cannot be described as a process which produces beauty as beauty itself cannot be defined objectively. You can only guess what the aim of art is. According to Tolstoy, the aim of art is to provide pleasure, enjoyment, entertainment as well as creating a relationship between the author and the “receiver”. So is blogging – art?

History of Blogs

Blogs were first introduced as weblogs that refer to a “server’s log file.” It was created when web logging hit the virtual market. Since its inception in the mid-1990s, web logging gradually saturated the virtual community making the Internet a viable source of greater information.

Origin of the term “weblog” is uncertain. Many point to John Barger in December 1997 when he coined the term on his own blog. 2 years later, Peter Merholz broke “weblog” into a phrase “we blog”, thus giving birth to the word “blog”. Fortuitously, this play on words eventually took off, and “blog” as a short form not only became a household noun, but also as a verb. With the growth of popularity of weblogs, grew the popularity of the word “blog”. Indeed, in March 2003, the Oxford English Dictionary included the terms “weblog,” “weblogging” and “weblogger” in its dictionary. Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary astonishingly declared “blog” as the word of the year in 2004. (Wikinews,2005)

Starting from the mid-1990 the number of blogs at an incredible pace, at the end of 1999, the total number of blogs was estimated to be around fifty; five years later, the estimates range from 2.4 million to 4.1 million. The site Open Diary, while not using the term blog only until recently, had only two thousand diaries by 1999; by, September 2005, it exploded to 400, 000. The Perseus Development Corporation, a consulting firm that studies internet trends, estimates that by 2007 more than 10 million blogs will have been created. Blogs as a way of expressing yourself

People who are into blogging carefully choose their words to describe their feelings, emotions and experiences. Leo Tolstoy says in his essay “What is art?”: “Art is a human activity consisting in this, that one man consciously, by means of certain external signs, hands on to others feelings he has lived through, and that other people are infected by these feelings and also experience them.”

In a way, bloggers are artists. They create a relationship with their readers, as professional writers and painters do. Blog is own space, their canvas, their book, where they can share their thoughts, feeling, ideas with others, where they can give and receive information.

As with art, you can write anything you want in a blog, but there are thing needed to be taken into account:

• You should make your blog interesting, informative so that it gives rise to readers’ thoughts and feelings.

• Create something beneficial for the readers. Give your blogs some quality content.

• “Simplicity is the final achievement. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art.” Frederic Chopin. Avoid being complicated in your blog. The more complicated the blog is – the less it is art.

Blogs as Modern Art

So what is a blog? Is blogging art? Blog is persons own space in the Internet, his orchestra where he conducts his symphonies, his paper where he writes his essays, his canvas where he paints his masterpieces, in a word – his space where he creates. What is the purpose of the Artist? To create, to communicate the concepts of morality.

Unfortunately not every blog can be categorized as art. Blogs must be comprehensible and understandable. If any unintelligible blog or as any incomprehensible expression of though is to be called “art”, then the meaning of “art” will be lost. Blogs must have the form and content which is are unity with the feeling and ideas which they represents. Blogs that shallow, unsophisticated, awkward, artificial, exaggerated, ostentatious, or banal are not art.

Tolstoy suggests that professionalism kills art; it causes the art to become false and insincere. As long as blogs are kept original, personal and sincere they can be described as art, modern art.

“Generally art is a (product of) human activity, made with the intention of stimulating the human senses as well as the human mind; by transmitting emotions and/or ideas”(Wikipedia, 2008). Blog is a great way to implement this activity online.

All in all, blogs are modern art, as long as you keep them personal, original, honest and smart. Blogs are your web space and you have all the tools and ideas to create your own masterpiece!
